The cross-disciplinary research environment with the Department of Sports Medicine at Bispebjerg Hospital and the Department of Sports Science and Nutrition at the University of Copenhagen is ranked as the world’s leading research environment within sport. It appears from the recently published internationally recognised Shanghai Ranking, in the category ‘Global Ranking of Sport Science Schools and Departments’.
About the award and the translational research collaboration, says professor, consultant, MD, PhD. Michael Kjær, head of Department of Sports Medicine and Chairman of the CAG physical activity and sport in Clinical Medicine (imPAct): “It is very gratifying this recognition, not only of the deep historical tradition of a combination of research in sport Physiology and Medicine, which began with the August Krogh and Johannes Lindhard, but also a recognition of the integrative translational research which takes place between basic and clinical research environments at the University departments as well as at the University hospitals. We are proud to convey this tradition.”
CAG Physical Activity and Sports in Clinical Medicine aims to initiate translational research activity to directly couple laboratory and clinical research groups within physical activity. Our activities and collaboration will all together lead to a cross-fertilization of disciplines across hospitals and university faculties/institutes. In addition, it will increase the synergy between research, clinical activity, and education within the area of physical activity in prevention, disease treatment and rehabilitation.
